Is Michael Owen Leaving the Premiership?

With Newcastle currently engaged in an utter nosedive and Joe Kinnear swearing blue and green to the Fleet Street wolf pack, there are few absolute certainties at this club. The only real big guarantee, at the moment anyway, is the fact that Michael Owen is out of contract at the end of the season and will definitely be on the move unless the heavens open up and the seas part. Currently, many bookmakers believe that he will renew his contract, but considering the fact that he is rapidly approaching the wrong side of 30, he will probably be looking for a higher-profile location with a higher wage packet. The likely destination, in my opinion, is Liverpool. While Rafa Benitez has claimed he doesn't need Owen, I actually have a feeling that he could pay dramatic dividends. Either working in Tandem with Fernando Torres or warming the bench as a perennial super-sub, Owen could prove to be a real advantage for 'Pool if he can remain healthy. While Rafa may not be prepared to pay 10 million for Owen, would he be willing to take a punt on him for a free transfer? The Liverpool ownership could factor into the equation as we all know they enjoy value for money and will likely be hoping Owen's reappearance will result in a real "feel good" atmosphere at Anfield. I would say it is very likely that Owen will remain in the Premiership so forget about a cheeky punt on him going to Italy or Spain. We all know how well that worked out last time?Where Will Owen Be 1st Day 09/10? : Newcastle 8/13 ; Man City11/2 ; Tottenham 15/2; Liverpool 8/1; Chelsea 11/1; Any Spanish Club 11/1 ;Any Italian Club 16/1(Others on request)
