JAMES WADE VS MERVYN KING PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS BETTING TIPS
As ever this week’s night of Premier League of Darts action concludes with the game of the night. James Wade will be keen to get his first win as defending champion under his belt but there are few tougher opponents in the game than Mervyn King. Wade got his campaign underway with a disappointing performance against Raymond van Barneveld last week going down as an 8-5 loser, whilst King beat Adrian Lewis by the same score with the only 100+ average of the week hitting some trademark finishes in doing so.
The high checkout betting markets seem an appropriate place to start for tonight’s game. King is now becoming notorious for hitting checkouts of around the 120 mark and hit a couple of them to take crucial legs against Lewis last week. Whilst Wade is more than capable of hitting the big 150+ checkouts on occasion, King is more consistent in hitting the middle to high range numbers and for that reason I’d suggest a back of him in the Player to score Highest Checkout market at Even money with Bet365.
The general consensus amongst the bookmakers is that there will be around six maximums in the game with most of them offering betting on over and under 6.5 at odds of around 5/6 on each selection. I’m inclined to think that there will be a few more and as a result am edging towards the over 6.5 selection. The reasons being that these two players have the potential to hit a string of maximums in consecutive legs once they get into the groove, and secondly because this game has the possibility to go the full 14 legs and the longer the game then naturally there will be more chances of maximums.
Which leads us on nicely to the match odds betting and if any match is going to end in a draw tonight then I’d have to suggest that it would be this one. However, the draw – which can be backed at 5.2 on Betfair – is such a specific score line in this best of 14 format that I find it hard to suggest an outright bet on it in any match. If I was forced to side with one player in the match odds market then it would be King at the bigger odds of 2.56 (8/5) but I think the best approach is to look at backing him in the Draw no Bet market – where all bets will be refunded if the match ends all square – at the Evens offered by SkyBet.
