JIMMY ANDERSON INJURY NEWS
James Anderson has suffered a cracked rib, but contrary to reports this morning he is expected to be fit for the first Test of the Ashes at the end of November. It was feared that the England pace bowler had in fact broken his ribs and would miss the opening two Tests, but the ECB have since moved to quash those rumours.
Anderson picked up the injury at an England training camp in Germany – reportedly whilst boxing with a teammate. The squad took in a number of activities whilst in Germany including abseiling, boxing and hiking as Andy Flower and his associates attempt to get their players in peak physical condition for the gruelling winter tour.
Liverpool FC are hoping that today they can finally draw a line under the boardroom saga that has plagued the club in recent months. Co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have this morning lifted the restraining order placed on the sale of the club to New England Sports Ventures, although it is believed that the decision has been made in order to aid the sale of the club to US hedge fund Mill Financial.
It is thought that a decision regarding the future of the club will be made at some point today.
Finally, the X-Factor live shows are in their second week this weekend with another two acts set to be given the boot by the public and judges. Brazilian singer Wagner is the favourite to be first to go at odds of 4/1 with Boylesports along with Katie Waissel who was saved by the judges last week.
The X-Factor winner betting is still hotly contested with no fewer than six acts available to back at odds of 8/1 or lower. Can any of the acts steal a march with a stellar performance in this weekend’s live shows?
