Jol next in line for Premier League exit?
Will it be third time unlucky for Tottenham boss Martin Jol as after twice seeing the wolves from his door he is now just 2/5 in places to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job. The Dutch coach, in his third season at White Hart Lane, was the bookies' favourite to be the first Premier League manager to lose their job this season but managed to outstay both Jose Mourinho and Sammy Lee. However after overseeing a disastrous 3-1 defeat away to Newcastle that sees his side stay rooted in the bottom three and a possible fallout with his star striker, Dimitar Berbatov, Jol appears to be losing his grip on his job. William Hill go 7/2 that he will last the season as Spurs boss and are as short as 1/6 that he will not be there come the end of the season. Former Spurs striker Jurgen Klinsmann is the 4/1 favourite to succeed Jol with Blackburn boss Mark Hughes also prominent in the betting at 8/1. Jol is also 1/8 with William Hill to leave the club before striker Berbatov, who is 9/2 to go before his boss. Tottenham, who finished fifth in the past two Premier League seasons, are down from 40/1 to 20/1 with William Hill to be relegated this season. The problem for Spurs has been the amount of goals they are conceding. They have only played one Premier League match this season where they have kept a clean sheet and only Derby and Reading have let in more goals. They do not appear to have any problems up front however as they have only been outscored in the Premier League by their north London rivals Arsenal. William Hill do not think that Spurs can continue in such woeful defensive form and only rate them a 20/1 shot to concede the most goals in this Premier League campaign. Derby are the 4/5 favourites with Middlesbrough and Sunderland at 7/1. William Hill are also betting on how many more Premiership bosses will leave their club before the end of this season and offer 6/5 that three or four more will go; 6/4 just one or two more; 10/3 five or six more; 25/1 seven or eight; 33/1no more; 100/1 nine or more. "It seems that management has never been a more perilous occupation and we are confident that several bosses currently in charge will find themselves moving on before the end of the campaign - mind you, most of them seem to have little difficulty in eventually finding another club," said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe. With former 5/1 third favourite Graeme Souness ruling himself out of the race to become Bolton boss, William Hill make Gary Megson 11/10 favourite to succeed Sammy Lee. Hills make Chris Coleman 4/1 second favourite, with Paul Jewell at 5/1 and Steve Bruce 7/1. "The only significant move we have seen of late in the market has been for Megson," said Sharpe.
