Jose Mourinho Returns to Chelsea Part 1
- By Allan Pederson on June 3, 2013 13:57 GMTThe football headlines are all confirming Jose Mourinho’s dramatic return to Chelsea FC with a four year contract signed over the weekend. The bookmakers have reacted to Mourinho signing on for Chelsea and bringing to an end the odd and increasingly embarrassing situation with Rafa Benitez, who was seemingly loathed by the fans despite turning the team around and managing to bring home the Europa League.

Most seem to have already forgotten Mourinho’s not so conspicuous departure from Chelsea several years back when a string of underwhelming results was capped off by a poor effort against a European minnow, with rumours arising that Mourinho had been sacked at half-time.
Punters will find Chelsea’s price tag floating around 9/4 at the moment which brings them right into the mix with Manchester City and Manchester United. All three clubs will have new mangers at the start of the season and it looks to be a genuine shoot-out amongst David Moyes, Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho.
Both United and City are available at prices of 2/1 and it’s going to be extremely interesting to see how those odds evolve over the coming weeks and months - particularly with all three clubs looking likely to enter the transfer market.
The Mourinho effect is going to be one of the most anticipated with many of Chelsea’s players still accustomed to his style of management and ability to organize teams, which is sometimes criticized as negative.
Arsenal carry a long price to secure the Premier League title and they are available at 12/1, though it’s going to be interesting to see how Arsene Wenger fares next year as he’s the only returning top 4 manager. He may see his squad emerge as more settled and ready to get results - they did finish the 2012/13 season quite strongly after things looked fairly bleak in the middle of the season.
