JOSE MOURINHO STILL FAVOURED TO BE NEXT MANCHESTER UNITED MANAGER

Despite being unveiled today as Real Madrid’s newest manager, Jose Mourinho remains the favourite to be named the next Manchester United manager- at least according to the punters on Betfair. Though the Special One’s odds have drifted northwards, he is still trading at a very competitive 4.7 which places him ahead of his next closest competitor, Everton’s David Moyes.

You’ll find Jose Mourinho’s odds listed at 4.7 to be named Next Manchester United manager and I think that the speculation that he has escape clauses built into his contract is the reason why he still remains the favourite. Real Madrid go through managers like Portsmouth go through owners, so you can bank on Mourinho getting some interference from the back office. How this will go over is questionable.
Personally, I think that with the players that Mourinho has at his disposal he doesn’t have any excuse not to deliver the lot to the Real Madrid fans. Another second place finish in La Liga won’t do the trick and neither will a Champions League semi-final appearance. I have a lot of respect for Mourinho and I think he’s the only one for the Real Madrid job at this time.
I also think he’s the only one who can step into Sir Alex Ferguson’s shadow.
David Moyes has always done more with less at Everton and he’s listed at a very competitive 6.0 price tag. Martin O’Neill is trading at 9.2 and is the only other selection that isn’t priced at double digits or more.
One interesting option would be current England manager Fabio Capello, who is also seeing a few question marks over top of him thanks to the rumours that he is being sought by Juventus or Inter Milan. Fabio is plausibly-priced at 14.5.
