The Bayern Munich vs Porto affair looks to be a much more interesting match-up with plenty of opportunity for both sides to kick on and produce a real classic here. Hopefully it lives up to the first match, where Porto were able to engineer a real surprise for the German champions as they pulled off a quick fire series of goals to stun their favoured opponents.

Right now, Porto are actually the favourites to progress to the next stage of the competition despite Bayern Munich being favoured to win this match-up. The Germans can be backed at a 4/11 price to get the 90 minutes victory while Porto are a lengthy 15/2 to get the away win in Germany. It would really be something else if they were to win over both legs and many observers would really start taking them seriously to win this competition - which they were able to do over a decade ago.

In regards to outright qualification, Porto get the 4/5 edge over Bayern Munich who trade at a 10/11 listing. Both of these teams could pull this one off and Bayern Munich will need to score to progress so this will factor into Porto’s plans which are likely to stay organized and keep pressure on Bayern Munich in the middle of the park without defending too deep.

Robert Lewandowski is the most likely Bayern Munich player to get on the scoresheet according to the bookmakers and he’s priced at a slim 10/3 margin to grab the first goal while you can back him at an odds on price of 10/11 to grab an any time goal - he is the only player currently trading at odds-on for the any time strike since Thomas Muller is only priced at even money and he’s the next-shortest contender.

Claudio Pizarro is a 5/1 shout to score first or last and 6/4 for the any time goal while Mario Gotze is an interesting option with an identical price tag. You get the feeling he might be more likely to find the net than Pizarro.

For Porto, they will be looking to the likes of Jackson Martinez to grab that goal and he’s a 9/1 shout to score first and 10/3 to grab an any time goal. Vincent Aboubakar is 11/1 to score first or last and 19/5 to score at any point in the match. Ricardo Quaresma is a 14/1 shout to score first and what a story that would be if he was to get them off the mark against Bayern.
