LEEDS UNITED VS TOTTENHAM FA CUP REPLAY BETTING TIPS

This is really going to be a treat for all English football fans and it is a fitting tribute to the magic and prestige of the FA Cup that we have a fallen giant in Leeds United battling it out with Premiership stalwarts Tottenham Hotspur for a way through to the next round of the famous tournament. Having forced a replay in the dying seconds, courtesy of a Jermaine Beckford penalty, Spurs now face an extra match at Elland Road in front of a hostile group of fans eager to put one over their former equals.
It appears as though Leeds still have it all to do, but I have a feeling that they revel in their underdog status. Spurs are listed by top UK bookmaker William Hill at an odds-on price of 10/11. Leeds are rewarding at 3/1 for the 90 minute victory while the draw- ensuring we get extra-time and, possibly, penalties would pay out at 5/2.
In terms of outright qualification, Spurs trade at 4/11 while Leeds pay a reasonable 2/1 price- keep in mind that this is the bet for the outright after 120+ minutes result. If you’re looking to back the match to go to extra-time or penalties (always a rewarding wager) you’re looking at 7/1 for Spurs to win in extra time and 11/1 for them to take it on penalties. Leeds are favoured at 11/1 for a penalties victory while Leeds are 12/1 in extra time.
The penalty was decisive last time and if another one is conceded you’re looking at a solid 11/4 payout. This is always a decent bet when lower-league opposition takes on a Premiership side. Nerves can jangle and defenders can get shaky. If you don’t think a penalty will be awarded you’re looking at a slim 1/4. Should that penalty be scored, you’ve got 10/3 and a missed penalty rewards at an 11/1 price.
If you think Spurs will dominate the game, try a bet on Spurs/Spurs in the double result market at 19/10. Leeds/Leeds pays out at 5/1 while I’m leaning a bit more towards either a half-time draw or Spurs ahead at half-time with the draw as the end result. You’re looking at 14/1 for Spurs/Draw and 9/2 for draw/draw.
Examining the goalscorer markets, Jermain Defoe is odds-on to score anytime at 10/11 while paying out at 7/2 for first or last. He is 6/1 to hit two or more and 20/1 for a hat-trick. Peter Crouch trades at 6/5 anytime and 9/2 first or last. Roman Pavluychenko pays 2/1 anytime and 7/1 first or last. Niko Kranjcar pays out at 11/4 anytime and 8/1 first or last.
For Leeds, it’s all about Jermaine Beckford, who has notched 4 in his last 3 games. The in-form striker is already being linked with moved to the top-flight and will likely not be a Leeds player in the summer. You’ll find this young dynamo paying out at 2/1 anytime and 7/1 first or last. Leeds will also be looking to Luciano Becchio at 4/1 anytime and 11/1 first or last. Robert Snodgrass played well last time out and he rewards at a hefty 11/2 to score anytime- that’s a great bet in my opinion.
I think Spurs are the justifiable favourites, but I believe in the magic of the FA Cup. I think the neutrals will be backing Leeds and, just for two hours or so, Leeds are back where they belong- playing among equals.
Verdict: Leeds on penalties.
