Liverpool V Blackburn Fixed Odds Betting Preview
Liverpool aim to move a step closer to Champions League qualification on Wednesday evening when they take on Blackburn at Anfield. The Reds presently sit eight points off fourth-placed Everton but host their Merseyside rivals on Sunday and so would narrow the gap to just two points with maximum points against Rovers and their local rivals. In recent weeks Blackburn have climbed clear of the relegation zone, but still need to keep collecting points to avoid being dragged back near the bottom three. Rovers also have a Cup semi-final to look forward to.Rovers are still in the FA Cup courtesy of their battling win over Leicester on Sunday. That victory did though come at a cost with Robbie Savage likely to be out, and Paul Dickov facing a fitness battle. With Dickov struggling, there will be more of an onus on Jon Stead to produce the goods. The former Huddersfield player finally kick started his campaign with the winner ten days ago at Everton. As was noted for the Tuesday preview with Adriano, often it only needs one goal for a forward to rediscover the scoring touch. With this in mind, it may pay to back Stead at 3/1 to score at anytime.Another striker who also does tempt in the goalscoring markets is Fernando Morientes who returns to Liverpool's starting line-up after missing the defeat at Newcastle with a groin strain and being cup-tied for the Champions League triumph in Leverkusen last week. Before his inactive period, the former Real Madrid player had begun to look extremely sharp with good goals against Charlton and Fulham. The doubt with backing Morientes is whether he will play a full game after recovering from injury and others playing well in his absence. As tempting as it is to dabble on Morientes, especially after the Adriano profits, I am content to go with a small investment in Stead to score for the second time on Merseyside inside a fortnight.
