Chelsea sit in third spot but they are just a point ahead of both Leicester City and Manchester United with a goal difference lower than both sides. This puts them in a tricky spot, particularly since they are facing off against such a quality side that can grab goals from seemingly everywhere on the pitch.
They will be buoyed by their comprehensive victory against Manchester United in the FA Cup when they ran out 4-1 winners, dominating that entire match-up and securing an FA Cup final match with Arsenal to ensure the possibility of some silverware this season.
Liverpool come into the game on the heels of the best English Premier league season ever and the bookmakers have them trading at an even money price tag to get the victory against the Blues. There are a few books who go as low as a 10/11 listing on Liverpool and those odds could drop as we get closer to the kick-off.
Chelsea can be backed at an 11/4 price and they look good value for money since they have so much more to play for in this contest. Expect them to field a full-strength side here and to attack Liverpool in the second half while trying to contain them in the first. Counter attacking football will likely be the move for Chelsea here as its really the only way to get anything against this powerful Liverpool team.
The draw, which trades at 5/2, does little for Chelsea but would probably serve Liverpool right in this key match-up.
