It is certain to be packed with action and plenty of interesting entanglements as emotions should be cranked up to high. Liverpool are mounting a late bid for a European place and, if they can pick up all three points at Stamford Bridge, then it’s going to blow a hole wide open in the race for European positions.
Liverpool stand on 50 points at the moment in seventh place, while sixth place Everton are six points ahead after losing at home to Paulo Di Canio’s resurgent Sunderland side.
Chelsea are eleven points ahead and sitting in fourth place, three points ahead of Spurs. If Tottenham can pick up the victory against Manchester City, not only would it line things up for Manchester United, but it would allow a victorious Spurs side to get level on points if Chelsea are beaten by Liverpool.
Liverpool’s confidence is riding high after a tricky start to the season, and they come into this one undefeated in their last five fixtures. It’s also worth noting that Liverpool have just seen back to back 0-0 results.
Chelsea have just snapped a three game away losing streak by beating out Fulham 3-0 last week. Expect them to channel some better form now that they’re at home.
