With Steven Gerrard’s Liverpool career now entering its twilight months, the club are obviously going through a bit of a tumultuous phase but they would love nothing more than to have their talisman for the last decade and a half depart the club with a piece of silverware. Chelsea will be coming into the match with plenty of confidence after dismantling Swansea at the weekend by a hefty 5-0 margin. They made short work of the Swans and will be expecting a bit of a tougher time at Liverpool but the real issue is figuring out which Liverpool team is actually going to show up this time. 

The club have shown that when they play their best they can more or less tangle with anybody but now it looks like they will have their work cut out for them against Jose Mourinho’s in-form side. There is a lot to like about the style of football that Chelsea are playing these days and you really have to wonder whether Liverpool have the defensive prowess to keep players like Cesc Fabregas or Oscar from having too much room to work in midfield. 

Chelsea’s Diego Costa will definitely be one to watch here and you can expect him to start the match - Jose Mourinho will want to field a full strength side for this one in order to ensure that Chelsea continue to propel themselves forward on a variety of fronts this season. 

Right now, Chelsea trade at one of the highest prices that you’ll find throughout the whole season with bookmakers listing them for the victory at a 23/20 price tag and looking good value for that. If they get the first goal here (and they are favoured to do so) then they are going to be very tricky to catch.
