LIVERPOOL VS DEBRECEN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING TIPS
Even with Jamie Carragher’s insistence that failure to progress in this year’s Champions League wouldn’t be a disaster for Liverpool, the bookies and the public continue to have confidence in them and it appears as though supporters are piling on in the Betfair markets with nearly $4,000,000 matched as of mid-afternoon.
Yesterday, Debrecen were trading at a 9.0 price and we’ve now seen them drift upwards to 12.5, and keep in mind that they’ll be playing at home here as well. The draw is listed at an interesting 6.0 price. I think that could be a real possibility here and Liverpool’s 1.31 odds don’t represent much value, although I do expect the price to continue trending downward as we get closer to kick-off.
Liverpool are shorn of Fernando Torres and this deprives them of their chief goal-threat. They haven’t really struggled to put balls in the net when Torres is absent though, but I do think it removes a key dynamic from their attacking play. Steven Gerrard is the favourite to score at anytime and he’s trading at around 2.24 with David Ngog just behind at 2.66. Dirk Kuyt is listed at 3.0 and that will likely shorten once the team-sheets go out, while Yossi Benayoun represents good value at 3.65. You never know whether Alberto Aquilani is going to be fit or not, and he is interestingly-priced at 8.2. That’s quite high and I actually think he is more likely to score in this type of fixture than a Premiership game. Glen Johnson is listed at 7.6 to score at anytime for Liverpool.
Debrecen’s favoured strikers are Gergely Rudolf at 5.6 and Adamo Coulibaly at 6.0. This isn’t a high-volume market right now, so I expect a lot of action about 30 minutes before the match. You are wise to lock in your prices now on each team’s top 3 favourites.
Debrecen are 13.5 to keep a clean sheet. Liverpool are 1.94.
The correct score margins are favouring a 2-0 result in Liverpool’s favour at around 7.0 with 2-1 Liverpool trading at 10.5. A nervy 1-0 win for them garners a 9.6 price. Any unquoted is usually the favourite in matches like this and it’s no exception with a slim price of 4.3 for any team to score 4 or more.
This is a must-win for Liverpool and with their recent form of having just won 1 match in 10 fixtures in all competitions, I can’t justify backing Liverpool at their current price. I actually think a draw could be the result here, especially if Liverpool don’t open with a belter first 20 minutes.
