Liverpool vs Everton betting tips
Encounters between Liverpool and Everton are northern equivalents to the Arsenal-Spurs battles in the south. Pool boast an outstanding home Premiership record and, with revenge in mind following their defeat at Goodison Park earlier in the season, the Red When Liverpool and Everton meet, it makes for hot-under-the-collar stuff - it's a bit like a northern version of an Arsenal and Spurs clash. Arguably, it's even more intense than the bouts between those arch enemies of north London. After being given a good hiding when beaten 3-0 by the Toffees at Goodison Park, the Reds should be up for this match in a major way. With the Kop behind them, one suspects Rafa Benitez's men will have their revenge on Saturday. Pool's record at Anfield in the Premiership is exemplary - they've won ten of their 12 matches on home soil in the league this term, drawn two and lost none. They've conceded far fewer goals than any other side in the process - just three in the dozen games in question. Apart from their back-to-back domestic cup drubbings at the hands of Arsenal, Liverpool's form has been rock solid of late. Indeed, there are those on Merseyside that are daring to dream - their heroes are now just five points adrift of second-placed Chelsea, and 11 off the pace being set by the rampant Red Devils of Man Utd. Everton, meanwhile, come into this match on the back of a 2-0 win away at Wigan, but they have been a shade inconsistent in their recent matches. Generally, they are vulnerable away from home and, if they adopt a defensive approach which they have a propensity to do on their travels, it's not hard to envisage Liverpool gradually breaking them down. David Moyes' charges find it hard going to score away from Goodison Park. This, combined with the fact that Liverpool have not conceded a single goal in their last seven Premiership matches at Anfield, suggests that the misfiring duo of Andy Johnson and James Beattie will once again struggle to rediscover their shooting boots. Prior to beating West Ham at the Boleyn Ground in midweek, Liverpool produced a masterful performance to beat reigning Premiership champions Chelsea by two goals to nil at Anfield, which will have served as a massive confidence boost. A display anything akin to that against Everton on Saturday and the visitors will, put simply, be blown away. The Reds scored that brace against Chelsea inside 20 minutes and, with both pride and points at stake, I can see them starting this fixture with similar levels of gusto. As such, Portland Bet's offer of 29/20 about Liverpool/Liverpool in the double result market appeals greatly. Neither side has any fresh injury problems to cope with so there is little room for excuses. This should be a full-blooded, high-octane encounter, and one which should see the home side collect all three points and maintain the pressure on Chelsea for second spot. Dutchman Dirk Kuyt could be the key man for Liverpool. Verdict - 3pts Liverpool/Liverpool in the double result market @ 29/20 (Portland Bet)
