Everton must understandably feel like the poor relations of Merseyside having only managed to beat neighbours Liverpool twice in their last eighteen clashes in all competitions - with the Reds winning eight, and the other fixtures ending all square. David Moyes' men have really upped the ante following a tardy start to the current Premiership campaign, but in Liverpool they faces a side fresh from hammering Birmingham 7-0 in a midweek FA Cup quarter-final encounter, and possess a home record in the league second only to Chelsea. Rafa Benitez's men have turned Anfield into a veritable fortress, winning twelve, drawing three, and losing just one match on home soil. Furthermore, they have conceded just six goals in their sixteen home Premiership matches - a stat even Chelsea can't match! Strangely, for all their attacking strength in depth, Pool have struggled to find the net with the desired frequency for the most part this season. But, ominously for the Toffees, they have scored an amazing fifteen goals in their last three fixtures - an incredible average of five a game. In seven of the last eight matches Pool have won in all competitions, backing Liverpool/Liverpool in the double result market would have yielded a return. Indeed, they have been quick off the blocks recently and have scored inside 20 minutes in each of their last three matches. With this in mind - and considering that they will really be up for this match - I reckon that the 7/4 BlueSq. are offering about Liverpool to be ahead at the interval and at the final whistle is too good an opportunity to miss. In addition, within those three matches Peter Crouch has scored in each game - including in the Birmingham match when he scored a brace - and he's well worth a small bet to score first at 11/2 with totesport. Everton have lost seven of their fifteen away matches played in the Premiership and are a far more potent outfit at Goodison Park. To their credit, their recent away form hasn't been at all bad, but the level of opposition they have been facing have been nothing like the calibre of which they will be up against on Saturday and, chances are, they'll be overwhelmed.
