LIVERPOOL VS MANCHESTER CITY BETTING TIPS

What an important match this is for both teams- two sides that had sky-high expectations at the start of the season, coupled with impressive starts, but are now languishing amidst mediocre results in matches they truly should be winning. Rafa Benitez did manage to beat Manchester United, but his sorry run of results has not improved and his position has been under threat for quite some time. Mark Hughes is in a bit of a different boat, but how can City expect to attract the world’s best and brightest to Eastlands when they can’t win against middling Premiership sides.
Both teams are fighting for that fourth Champions League place- and that’s the race that I think will define the season.
Blue Square lists Liverpool at odds-on to win the match with a 10/11 price tag attached. Man City are 16/5, and that’s good value in my book. You can back the draw at 23/10 and that’s probably the best idea for the neutrals- both of these teams are drawing too many games.
I predict a quick start and a fast pace that continues throughout the match. Liverpool are favoured to score first with a 4/6 price against Man City’s 6/4. No goals pays out at 15/2.
Speaking of correct scores, the favoured result is either 1-0 Liverpool or a 1-1 draw at 6/1. 2-0 Liverpool pays 7/1 while 2-1 to the Scouse side pays out at 15/2. Man City are 10/1 to win 1-0 and 20/1 to win 2-0. A 2-1 margin pays out at 14/1.
I can see this match turning into a pretty messy 4-3 victory for somebody, given the right circumstances, and Liverpool pay out at 80/1 for a 4-3 margin and City rewards you with a massive 150/1 price. If you’re not feeling too adventurous, why not try 3-2 each-way at 28/1 for Liverpool and 40/1 for Man City.
There are some really great player specials in this match at Blue Square and if Dirk Kuyt hits the woodwork, which Dirk Kuyt is known to do, you’ll get paid out at a massive 14/1. Steven Gerrard to hit the woodwork comes in at 7/1 while Craig Bellamy is 10/1 and Emmanuel Adebayor is listed at 11/1 to hit the post or the cross-bar. I fancy lots of chances in this match and that usually means a lot of bars being hit. These are great prices on players who enjoy taking long-range chances.
Fernando Torres is not expected to play in the match as he’s out with a pulled groin, sounds about right, and Fabio Aurelio is also out with a calf issue. Jamie Carragher is also suspended from the match. City have Robinho listed as doubtful with an ankle injury while Stillian Petrov and Sylvinho are both out injured.
One player hoping to get a run-out is Alberto Aquilani who is listed at 5/1 to score anytime during play. Carlos Tevez is well-priced at 11/4 anytime while David Ngog carries a slim 7/4 price.
My predictions for the match – a high scoring fixture with either a 3-2 or 4-3 margin. I am backing key players to hit the woodwork and I will be backing Liverpool/Manchester City in the half-time/full-time market at 28/1.
