LIVERPOOL VS PORTSMOUTH PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS
Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool side really need to get things back on track here if they’re going to challenge for that fourth Champions League spot- they’ll be able to make up ground on Spurs today by disposing of Portsmouth, who have acknowledged relegation and are admirably doing their best for their fans at the moment. Avram Grant’s side really have nothing to lose here and that could actually work against Liverpool- who may be expecting Pompey to roll over easily in this one.
I’ll tell you what- an early goal by Portsmouth will send the Scousers reeling. Once they go behind and have to chase a game, I find that Liverpool can get frustrated very easily. Even with their talismans Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, they have looked woefully short of ideas in recent weeks.
Liverpool remain the heavy favourites for this one though, with a price of 1.22 while the draw pays 6.0 (a tidy price) and an unlikely Pompey victory rewards at 13.0. I think Liverpool will try to hit the ground running here and make an early statement- something that is going to open up opportunities at the back for Portsmouth.
The favoured correct score option is a 2-0 victory to Liverpool, which pays out at a 6.0 margin. A 1-0 victory pays 7.0 while a 2-1 victory is priced at 9.0. A 1-1 draw pays 12.0 while Portsmouth to win 1-0 pays 15.0. A 2-1 victory for Avram Grants’s side pays out at a hefty 29.0.
I think the first half may be one to forget and I think a draw would be reasonable if Portsmouth look like they’ve come to play. Draw/Liverpool pays out at 4.5 while draw/draw pays out at 8.0. Liverpool will be in some trouble if they drop points here so I can see them having a much better 2nd half than 1st.
Fernando Torres is very short-priced to score in this match with a miniscule 1.4 price to score anytime. Steven Gerrard sits at 2.0 alongside Dirk Kuyt while Ryan Babel is listed at 2.37 with David Ngog and Daniel Pacheco. Maxi Rodriguez pays out at 2.75.
Portsmouth’s best chance to get a goal is looking like Frederic Piquionne who trades at 50 while Aruna Dindane sits at 5.5. John Utaka is worth keeping your eyes on as well with a 7.0 price to score anytime.
If you think Liverpool are going to run away with this one, back them on the (-1.0) handicap at a 1.72 price. Liverpool to be leading at half-time and not win pays out at 21.0 and I think that may be where a few fans put their money- Liverpool have proven themselves able to cock-up matches like this and I wouldn’t put it past them to do so.
