Liverpool vs Tottenham: Preview, Odds and Betting Tips
- By admin on April 27, 2022 00:50 GMTAfter our 100% accuracy in our predictions for Arsenal vs Manchester United last time out, we hope to do more of the same in another big game.
With the title race and battle for the top-four set to go down to the wire, this clash at Anfield could go on to define a lot at both ends. With Spurs battling for fourth place with Arsenal and Manchester United, a loss could stop them in their tracks and give their rivals an advantage.
For Liverpool, only a mere point separates them from leaders Manchester City and they literally need to win ALL their remaining games and hope the reigning champions fumble along the way.
Who will come out on top at Anfield? We have all the predictions for you.
Form Guide: Liverpool
In all of Europe’s top five leagues, you won’t be wrong to say Liverpool are the most in-form side at the moment. The Reds have lost only one fixture since January, spanning 26 games and it is no surprise they continue to challenge for trophies on all fronts.
That run included two games against Manchester City in which they avoided defeat and edged out Guardiola’s men to set up an FA Cup final clash against Chelsea.
At Anfield, Liverpool have been rather devastating and it begs the question of who can stop them at home. In their last 14 games on home turf, the Reds have lost only once (to Inter in the Champions League). They also seem to know how to score goals at Anfield, scoring at least two goals in 11 of their last 14, and scoring three or more on seven occasions.
Form Guide: Tottenham
After securing an impressive four-game winning streak, the North London side slumped to defeat against Brighton and a bore draw against Brentford.
Spurs no longer have their top-four hopes in their hands and a fixture like this at such a delicate time is not what they would have hoped for.
Tottenham might also find themselves trapped in the sense that they take on their direct top-four rivals in Arsenal after this game and it is a bit confusing to think about which one could be more important.
All that remains on the agenda is a top-four finish for Spurs but defeat in this game could kill their morale ahead of a ‘six-pointer’ with Arsenal. Although Spurs’ away record has been decent in recent time, but bagging goals against a Liverpool side with the best defence in the league will be a tough ask, even with the presence of Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane.
How the match could go
One would naturally expect a high-octane attacking game from both sides but given what is at stake, it could be more of a one-sided affair this time around. The reverse fixture ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw but Liverpool should have more incentive this time to come out on top.
When you further consider that Liverpool have been somewhat unplayable at Anfield of late, it is easy to see why the Reds are strong favourites to win this time around. Though Liverpool are still in the Champions League and that could serve as a ‘distraction’, Klopp’s men still boast enough quality in depth to challenge on all fronts as they chase an historic quadruple.
Betting Predictions
Both teams to score (NO)
A rather bold claim here but there is a strong possibility it could yet happen. Liverpool have managed six clean sheets from their last ten games and two of those games in which they conceded came against Manchester City, with the other two being Benfica. Tottenham have also been lacklustre of late and the fact that they could play cautious, given the consequences of a loss, could play well into Liverpool’s hands and make the game a one-sided affair. William Hill have odds well priced at 21/20 (2.05) for both teams not to score.
Over 9.5 Corners
Regardless of Liverpool being favourites to win, both teams remain very attacking oriented. With the presence of pacy and tricky wingers at both ends, there is a strong likelihood of many corners after 90 minutes. The hosts will also come out to attack at home, making the odds of 19/20 (1.95) rather tempting to go with.
Liverpool to win
As earlier mentioned, Liverpool are strong at any venue but are much stronger at home. The hunger to win the Premier League, which goes in line with the motivation for a quadruple should see the Reds blazing on all fronts. Knowing that they can’t afford to lose ground on Manchester City, they are strongly expected to take maximum points here. Back the favourites to win at humble odds of 2/5 (1.40).
