LIVERPOOL VS WOLVES BOXING DAY BETTING TIPS
Rafa Benitez’s side are heavily favoured to pull off a victory against Mick McCarthy’s Wolves side today in the late kick-off of the 2009 Boxing Day football fixtures. Blue Square has listed the Reds at 2/7 for the outright victory with Wolves paying out at a hefty 10/1 should they pull off a shock victory. Not much value to be had on Steven Gerrard and Co. in terms of the outright betting, so fans of the Wolverhampton side should be well-poised to profit if things go their way.
The draw is paying out at 4/1 and that may not be a bad selection considering some of the issues that Liverpool have been having in recent weeks. Despite their emphatic victory last time out, things have more or less been going from bad to worse with Liverpool now languishing in mid-table. Still, you can’t deny that they are the bookies favourite here and if you’re looking for proof-positive check out the price on a draw no bet for Liverpool- 1/20. Wolves are available in the same market for an 8/1 price. Liverpool will need a solid victory if you’re looking for any form of quality payout and my suggestion for those looking to back the Reds would be Liverpool (-1.0) at 5/6. If you’re going that far, why not back ‘Pool to win 3-1 at 11/1 or 2-0 at 11/2- the shortest priced option in the correct score market at Blue Square.
Liverpool are 8/11 to win both halves, but I generally stay away from that bet with the Scouse side as they have had some very shaky first halves. If you’re looking for some serious value, try Wolves/Liverpool at 28/1. Draw/Liverpool is also a solid option at 10/3. Fernando Torres trades at 4/5 to score anytime while Steven Gerrard can be backed at 11/10. Dirk Kuyt sits at 7/4 while Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is 3/1 to score anytime. There’s a very hot bet available on Ebanks-Blake to score in both halves- should he pull that off you’re looking at a whopping 66/1.
This match is definitely Liverpool’s to lose and they will need all three points here. Wolves are now out of the relegation zone and looking to put some distance between them and the bottom three. Liverpool need an emphatic victory in order to ensure any value and emphatic victories have been few and far between at Anfield this season. Liverpool should win this, but I don’t think Wolves will roll over and they are paying out at a very big price to win or draw.
