Luis Felipe Scolari, Gareth Southgate and Mark Hughes all Tipped For The Sack
The latest news from William Hill, one of the top UK-based sportsbooks, has placed Gareth Southgate's head firmly on the chopping block as his odds for the next Premier League sacking have been slashed from 10/1 to a mere 15/8. Former favourite for the sack race, Man City's Mark Hughes is now placed alongside Chelsea's Luis Felipe Scolari as the next man out. Both are listed at 11/4. These are slim odds for all three and it is really difficult to pick between them, especially with all other Premier League managers looking in fairly good shape. Interestingly enough, I don't personally think Gareth Southgate is in that much trouble, as his chairman is supportive but the fact that they're hanging just above the relegation zone (not unfamiliar territory for Middlesboro) can't be helping matters. Chelsea's Scolari could very well have been terminated on Saturday had his charges not been able to conjure up some last minute heroics to snatch a win for plucky Chelsea against the footballing powerhouse that is Stoke City. Frank Lampard and his deflected goals continue to be Chelsea's saving grace. I would personally rate Tony Adams as the favourite to go next. I think Chelsea's problems are temporary and they simply won't cut loose a world-class manager that easily. Mark Hughes could go at any time, but I think he'll see his walking papers in the summer. I'm confident that Portsmouth are really shaping up for a relegation dogfight and in the financial state that club is in, it's a fight they can't afford to lose. Do they get a proven performer in now or do they roll the dice and stay with the untested Tony Adams? If you think Adams is gone, back him at 7/2 with William Hill. Gareth Southgate 15/8 ; Mark Hughes 11/4; Felipe Scolari 11/4; Tony Adams 7/2; No Manager 7/1; Rafa Benitez 10/1; Gary Megson 12/1; Joe Kinnear 16/1; Gianfranco Zola 16/1; Tony Mowbray 25/1; Tony Pulis 25/1; Ricki Sbragia 25/1; Phil Brown 25/1; Arsene Wenger 40/1; Sam Allardyce 40/1; David Moyes 40/1; Steve Bruce 40/1; Roy Hodgson 50/1; Harry Redknapp 66/1; Martin O'Neil 100/1; Sir Alex Ferguson 100/1.
