Malky Mackay Favoured for Crystal Palace Post
- By A.J. Ryder on August 15, 2014 03:15 GMTAfter the shock departure of Tony Pulis from Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, the hunt looks to be on their latest manager with only two days to spare before the season itself kicks off in earnest. It all appeared to come to a head only recently as Pulis had been disappointed by the management team’s ability to land any of the signings that he had his eye on.

The situation at Palace had Pulis recommend targets only for a pair of underlings to effectively cock up most of the transfers. Only a small handful of players have showed up to reinforce Palace in this capacity and Pulis’ contract was terminated by mutual consent with just two days remaining before a massive trip to Arsenal to kick off the season.
Assistant manager Keith Millen will remain in charge for the next fixture with two members of Pulis’ coaching staff also agreeing to stay on just for that particular fixture before vacating their positions.
Who knows how this will actually affect Crystal Palace’s season with plenty of question marks remaining over top of who will come in, how will they adapt to the situation and (this is the big one) will David Moyes be in the frame to return?
As it currently stands, punters will find Malky Mackay trading around even money to be named as the next Crystal Palace manager with at least one bookmaker now listing him at an odds-on price of 4/6.
David Moyes odds to be named next Crystal Palace manager is trading at a competitive 4/1 and that puts him in the drivers seat should Mackay opt out of the position. It would be interesting to see Moyes take on Manchester United just a year after he arrived at Old Trafford, dubbed “the chosen one” before not even lasting the season.
Other notables included in the frame are Tim Sherwood at 6/1, Neil Lennon at 7/1, Alan Pardew at 10/1 and Glenn Hoddle trading at 9/1. Steve Clarke and Sam Allardyce can both be had for 12/1.
