MANCHESTER CITY BETTING TIPS 2009/10 PREMIER LEAGUE
I would say it's a pretty safe bet that the big four is going to get its biggest test in over a decade as Manchester City, flush with Arab oil money, take a genuine stab at overturning one of the most established orders in football. There's plenty of cash to be made this year if you're a City fan, but it's all going to depend on the team turning out and getting results consistently away from home. I don't think the Premier League is a realistic possibility this year for City, but I do think they have a real opportunity to progress in the cup competitions. Should City pull off a cup double, William Hill is paying out at 66/1! Not bad odds if you think Carlos Tevez & co have enough to get the job done. Last year, City were solidly mid-table- a side that should have done a lot better, but just couldn't string enough proper results together. The decline of Micah Richards was evident and they will need to produce more solidity at the back if they're going to progress further up the Premiership ranks. City are heavy favourites to finish above 10th, with a price of 1/16 for a top 9 finish. They are 10/1 to finish tenth again while they are 9/1 to finish lower than 10th. Mark Hughes' men lead the way in the betting without the big four market, with an odds-on price of 5/6 to top the Premier League table once Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are out of the equation. City have an outright price of 11/1 to win the English Premier League. For a bit of perspective, Arsenal are listed at 9/1. The closest competitor to Manchester City is Spurs, who sit at 125/1. City are also 6/1 to win the North West division with Manchester United at 8/11 and Liverpool at 13/8. I think with all of the signings that City have made, and the fact that you know they'll be bringing in more reinforcements at Christmas, they will be making big progress this year. Gareth Barry, Emmanuel Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz and a veritable swath of other Premiership talent have journeyed up to City to take part of the league's newest experiment. I don't think they will break the big four, but they are certainly going to make it interesting.
