Manchester City vs Leicester City: Preview, Odds and Betting Tips - 29 October 2022 (Premier League)
- By admin on October 21, 2022 03:42 GMTA few years ago, Manchester City vs Leicester City would have been a very interesting clash to look forward to.
Leicester City, who have comfortably been a top six team since their miraculous 2015 Premier League victory, have now fallen off their pedestal.
What could be the problem with the Foxes? Winners fatigue? Poor boardroom decisions leading to underwhelming transfer business? Bad tactics and player management? We really cannot say. But what we do know is that Leicester City are on the edge of being shunted into Premier League oblivion.
That little preamble gives you an idea of what this article has to offer. However, there are some facts about the game that cannot be ignored.
One is the recent history between both sides. The Foxes have only managed to beat Manchester City twice in their last ten meetings while losing the rest. However, they have proven to be a stubborn opponent for City, regardless of their form in the time leading up to any of those games.
Another of those facts is Manchester City's most recent form. For a better understanding of what could happen at the King Power on October 29, let us take a look at their form guides.
Form Guide: Manchester City
The defending champions of the Premier League started the season with a bang. Right now, though, they look very vulnerable, especially after their first loss to Liverpool, who have been their major title rivals in the past four seasons.
Despite playing a good game against the Reds on October 16 and scoring a goal that was ruled out, defensive and attacking lapses prevented them from putting the Reds to the sword. Before that game, however, they were unable to get past F.C. Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City are currently down in a rut but with a manager like Pep Guardiola, that rut may not last long.
The Cityzens still lead the charts in every attacking stats in the Premier League. This means that they are a chance creation machine which is very difficult to break down. Their weakness has always been their defence, which is currently more vulnerable than it has ever been in the past few weeks.
They have two games to get in shape for the hungry Foxes, however.
Form Guide: Leicester City
Leicester City currently sit in 19th place on the Premier League log after 10 matches. They have won one of their last five games, drawn one, and lost three. However, they have something going on for them.
They have scored the second most goals among teams in the bottom half of the table. Their 15-goal haul shows that they are not lacking attacking output. They have also missed 11 big chances in the league which could have sealed vital results for them.
But their attacking prowess has come undone with their shambolic defending. They have conceded 24 goals, which just happened to be the most goals conceded in the league. They have also committed two errors leading to a goal and given away one own goal.
Depending on how City can bounce back from their current slump, this leaves them wide open for exploitation.
What to expect from the match
Both teams will score. Leicester have been unable to find the net in only two of their 10 games so far: a 1 - 0 loss to Manchester United and a 0 - 0 draw with Crystal Palace. However, a rout by Manchester City is most likely.
In short, Manchester City are the favourites and Leicester City are a little less than the underdogs they once were in this fixture a little while ago.
Betting predictions
Both teams to score
Leicester City are not shy of goal scorers and very smart finishers even though they have missed 11 big chances. Manchester City, on the other hand, have a hungry Erling Haaland, who has slowed down a bit after already smashing a number of Premier League goal-scoring records.
It will not be a case, however, of who outscores the other because City will win. It will be a case of how many the Fixes will concede. William Hill is offering 1/1 (2.00 odds) for both teams to find the back of the net.
Over 3.5 goals
Manchester City will have two games to get back in their normal flow before Leicester City. But history shows that they average at least two goals against the Foxes. This history does not look like changing anytime soon, which puts this prediction as the surest bet.
William Hill is offering 18/20 (1.90 odds) for at least four goals to be scored by both sides.
Erling Haaland to score
Leicester City is the type of opponent that Erling Haaland enjoys playing against. He will be back to his scoring best soon and the match against the Foxes will be another opportunity to flex his muscles.
All odds are via William Hill and all info valid as at the time of writing .
Odds could differ now.
