MANCHESTER CITY VS MANCHESTER UNITED LIVE CARLING CUP BETTING TIPS

We’re just a short time away from kick-off in one of the biggest matches of the year so far and we’ve put together a quick guide to the latest odds on the Manchester City vs Manchester United Carling Cup fixture. We’ll also be taking a look at the live betting markets and opportunities available with Victor Chandler.

Unlike some bookmakers, Victor Chandler has given the edge here to Manchester United, who are trading at a pre-match level of 6/4. Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City side are listed at 7/4 pre-match while the draw is available at an 11/5 price. United are favoured to win the first half at 2/1 while City are 12/5 to be on top going into half-time. A draw after 45 minutes is the odds-on option, however, at a 10/11 price. United remain 2/1 to win the second half while City are listed at 9/4 and the draw pays 5/4. This is interesting as it shows that the bookies clearly expect United to have the edge if the draw doesn’t happen.
When you factor in the draw no bet, United go down to odds on at 8/11 while City pay out at even money. United are 7/2 to win both halves while City are 4/1.
The live betting on this match is going to be very large in volume as I think a fair amount of punters will wait until the 20 minute mark in order to gauge the rhythm of the game and figure out where the openings are. United need a confident start, more so than City do, and I think if City see United on the backfoot a few times in the first 15 minutes or so, then they’ll be buoyed by that. Also, if you’re betting live, keep an eye on how closely and aggressively the United players are marked by the City midfield. I find that when United’s players are harried and rushed on the ball, they tend to have difficulty breaking other teams down.
Contrastingly, if you see United break at pace more than once in the first 15 minutes, then they may be able to make City a bit more wary. I think that’s still where United are at their best and quick counter-attacking football will be City’s undoing.
Your prices for in-play first goalscorer are likely be to be 4/1- Wayne Rooney, 5/1 Adebayor, 5/1- Tevez, 6/1- Berbatov, 6/1- Roque Santa Cruz, 7/1 Michael Owen, 7/1 Mame Biram Diouf, 7/1 Craig Bellamy.
