MANCHESTER CITY vs. SALZBURG- ODDS FAVOUR TEVEZ TO SCORE

Tevez celebration

Manchester City head into the club’s opening Europa League clash this evening against Austrian champions Salzburg, in what will very likely be a one-sided affair.
Emmanuel Adebayor has been ruled out of City's opener after picking up a dead leg, as the club seeks to rebound from poor Premier League results either side of the international break.
The Manchester side was dealt another blow, as they attempt to stamp their intent, with the loss of defender Joleon Lescott; however this has opened the way for Wayne Bridge to make his first appearance of the season.
An interesting build up to this match has seen City manager Roberto Mancini play down talk of a lack of firepower off the back of losing both Adebayor and Mario Balotelli, having already left Roque Santa Cruz out of the squad.
This thins things out significantly in the forwards department leaving skipper Carlos Tevez and Brazilian Jo as the playmakers tasked with jump-starting City's season.
After two fitful years Jo probably has the dubious honour of being the player the City supporters dislike the most, however Mancini remains confident that the Brazilian will come right, labelling tonight as the perfect time to do just that.
Salzburg, having proven successful in Austria’s domestic league, however as underlined yesterday by Slovakian champion's side Zilina’s thumping at the hand of English Champions Chelsea, European league are an entirely different level to that seen back in Austria.
Tonight's matchup will be the first between these two teams in European competition, with Salzburg's only previous tie against English opposition in Europe being Blackburn in 2006- which resulted in elimination in the first round of the then UEFA cup
Even sporting a depleted line-up Manchester City are still odds on favourites to wrap this one up with Betfair putting them at 1.82 to Salzburg's 5.2.
Bet365 are putting a 1-0 Manchester City win at 7.0, with a 2-0 win at 8.5. If Tevez is to come out firing and Joe Hart is to produce a defensive display that he is more than capable of, a 3-0 win is not a bad shout, especially when considering  it is set at 15
Salzburg, although a half decent team, don’t quite seem to harbour the ability to challenge a club the size and ability that Manchester City has at their disposal.
A Salzburg win, if it were to happen, will be a low scoring one with 1-0 netting 11.0, and a 2-1 at 13.0
Not surprisingly, considering the loss of Adebayor, Carlos Tevez is hot favourite to score at 2.3, and put at 5.5 to open proceedings. City's 'forgotten child' Jo might very well find himself at the thick of things tomorrow, and is a great bet at 3.2 to score at anytime
If Salzburg is to challenge City up front, it will very likely be off the back of Uruguayan striker Joaquin Boghossian who is placed at 3.75, with Austrian local Roman Wallner at 4.33
All in all this game is a tough one to call- however one must feel that with a football mind like Mancini, coupled with the  boot of Tevez, that even a depleted Man City squad should triumph.
And if that was not enough motivation...a back room having forked out over £126m over the transfer window solely intent on getting results will be.
