Manchester City vs Watford Betting Tips
Man City are one of just four teams - Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool being the other three - that have yet to taste defeat at home in the Premiership this season. Incredibly, the Citizens' No 1 keeper, Nicky Weaver, has been beaten just once in his side's seven league fixtures at the City of Manchester Stadium, a stat which no other Premiership side can match. Given that Watford find goals extremely hard to come by - they've scored just three times in seven away league fixtures and just 10 in all 14 matches in this competition (an average of just over 0.7 per game) - the omens do no look good for the Hertfordshire club when they travel north for Monday evening's clash with Stuart Pearce's charges. The Hornets have played decent football at times this season, but just one win in 14 league games tell its own story, and explains why they are rooted to the bottom of the table, only edging ahead of Charlton by virtue of a better goal difference. For all manager Adrian Boothroyd's optimism, it's not hard to see why Watford are favourites to finish rock bottom this season. Their problems were accentuated when beaten 1-0 at home by fellow newly promoted side Sheff Utd last week - they failed to create enough chances, and were unable to take those that they did create. Their goalscoring potential hasn't been helped by the absence of striker Marlon King, while Darius Henderson has failed to score in 16 games in all competitions so far during the current campaign. Admittedly Man City haven't exactly been a scoring machine this season, but they've scored three times in two of their last three games, beating both Aston Villa and Fulham by three goals to one on either side of a creditable effort in defeat away to Liverpool. Indeed, in their most recent match - when recording their first away win of the season at Villa Park last week - strikers Corradi, Samaras and Vassell looked pretty sharp. In addition, the Blues' midfield have goals in them; Joey Barton is actually their leading scorer this term. And the likes of Dietmar Hamann and Claudio Reyna are not short on creativity. Such players, all of whom will be high in confidence following that impressive display against Aston Villa in their latest match, will give the Watford defence a torrid time. In three of the four home matches they have won this term, if you would have backed Man City/Man City in the double result market you would have been smiling after the final whistle. It's highly likely that, after the final whistle is blown on Monday night, that those that took that the 8/5 with sportingodds about City again leading at the interval and at the end, will again be in financial clover. Verdict: 2.50 Man City/Man City in the double result market @ 8/5 (sportingodds )
