Manchester City vs West Ham Preview

Manchester City must put the unwanted attention they garnered this past week behind them as they look to get over David Moyes’ West Ham United on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.

City’s Premier League season is already not looking as prosperous as last campaign and the news would have raised a level of uncertainty surrounding the future of some of the club’s stars.

With Liverpool seemingly running away with the title, City will attempt to do their best to maintain pursuit.

The sides were scheduled to meet on February 9 but due to the passing of Storm Ciara, the game will take place nine days later, over two weeks since both teams were last in action.

The Hammers aren’t having their best season by any stretch and have been on the losing side against City in their last five Premier League meetings, conceding 16 and managing just two goals.

As such, The Champions are a mere 1/8 to continue their winning run against the Hammers. West Ham has only recorded three wins on the road this season and are backed at 17/2 to win at City.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is suspended for City while Raheem Sterling is on the treatment table. A frequent visitor to the treatment room, Ben Mendy might be in line for a start on Wednesday.

City have only kept one clean sheet so far in 2020 and Moyes will be hopeful his men can exploit the opponent’s perceived lack of solidity at the back while trying to contain their attackers who have scored 11 times so far this calendar year.

Unfortunately West Ham’s poor record of one win in their last eight positions City to be favorites for the three points and a healthy amount of goals.

The Hammers also pounced to purchase winger Jarrod Bowen from Hull City and he should be expected to start to offer much needed impetus to their play.
