MANCHESTER UNITED SIGN ZORAN TOSIC FROM PARTIZAN BELGRADE
The multitude of Manchester United fans were left scratching their heads this morning as news broke of 21-year old Serbian winger Zoran Tosic being cleared for a work permit. Seemingly, United kept this one well under the radar and the announcement may even catch some Man United players off-guard as it now looks like there is some competition on the flanks. Hardly a surprise though, if you really think about it, as Darren Fletcher was recently played down the right hand side and that just doesn't really make a good deal of sense. NANI AND PARK TO THE BENCHSeemingly, first-team opportunities will be reduced for players like Park Ji-Sung and Nani, especially. It would be one thing if United were picking up a 17 year-old for under a million pounds, but Tosic's 8 million pound price tag means that Man United intend to play him immediately. Early reports indicate that he can play on both flanks and his lean build brings him extra pace. United's only genuinely quick winger is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is focusing more on the technical aspects of his game as opposed to basing his play around raw pace. NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR RONALDOI feel as though Tosic's arrival could force a change in betting tactics for Manchester United games. This means that Rooney will likely not be shunted out to the right anymore, and that Ronaldo and Tosic could very well switch wings at will, in order to hoodwink defences. I think Tosic will improve Ronaldo's goals-to-game ratio and it will help him get further up the charts for the Premier League Golden Boot Award. Tosic is arriving in January from Nemanja Vidic's old alma matter Partizan Belgrade. He could very well factor into the titanic clash between United and Chelsea on January 11 and after that United's fixture list looks relatively manageable. Tosic is arriving at just the right time and legions of United fans will be looking to the young winger to prove he's up to the task.
