MANCHESTER UNITED VS AC MILAN LIVE TIPS AND SPECIAL BETS
We’ve got a real barn-burner of a match set to kick off in less than an hour as Wayne Rooney leads his Manchester United side against Ronaldinho and David Beckham’s AC Milan. United hold the edge with a 3-2 margin heading back to Old Trafford and this match is expected to have some of the biggest betting volume in quite some time. There are plenty of first-rate odds available and Blue Square has some terrific special bets on offer, as well as top-class in-play wagering.
United are listed at a 1.73 price to win the match with Milan trading at 5.0. The draw can be backed at 3.6. Milan absolutely need a victory if they are to have any chance of progressing to the next stage and the odds are definitely not in their favour. Manchester United are a miniscule 1.05 to progress to the next stage with Milan trading at a lengthy 9.0.
Wayne Rooney is listed at 1.67 to score anytime during the match and a hefty 8.0 to score in both halves. He is a slim 15.0 to score a hat-trick, but you almost can’t rule that one out. He is a juicy 6.0 to score with a header and 9.0 to score from outside the box. He trades at 3.25 to be the first goalscorer for Manchester United. Rooney is 8.0 to hit the woodwork and 19.0 to earn a penalty- that’s a decent bet in my opinion as Rooney will likely have lots of time on the ball. He is 2.75 to be booked and 29.0 to be sent off during the match.
David Beckham is 7.0 to score anytime and 151.0 to score in both halves (likely so high because he’s not expected to start). He is 41.0 to score a header (not happening) and 19.0 to score from outside the box (might happen). Becks is 13.0 to hit the woodwork, 3.0 to be booked and 34.0 to be sent off. That’d be a right laugh if that happened.
The key to in-play betting is always to think a few moves ahead like a quality chess player. If the match is 0-0 and you back United to finish the half at 1-0 you likely won’t get premium odds. If you’re looking for value, you should be backing the 2-0 as the odds will always be exponentially higher. It is usually best to back a few long-odds selections and then save the bulk of your money for an in-play wager. Look for the wingers that are finding space- is Antonio Valencia carving open his marker? If so, he’s likely going to be supplying quality balls to Wayne Rooney or even having a go himself. These types of things are tough to predict before the match sometimes, so a solid in-play punter leaves his options open.
In this fixture, I think Patrice Evra’s attacking prowess down the left could make a really big difference. If Milan can’t cope with him, they could have serious issues. They will be as ready as possible for Wayne Rooney (who I don’t think is as injured as he was made out to be) but they will likely not have prepared for United’s explosive wingers.
