MANCHESTER UNITED VS BAYERN MUNICH 2ND HALF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LIVE TIPS
Eat your heart out Arsenal vs Barcelona! This is an absolutely scintillating match that has had absolutely everything- spills, chills and plenty of awesome goals. The quality of United’s three goals is absolutely unbelievable, and they looked to have the tie won- but of course Michael Carrick produces another awful performance and gifts Bayern Munich the goal. If Michael Carrick remains on the pitch in the second half, United do not deserve to win this game. He is an absolute liability at this point.
United look to have this match won, but all Bayern Munich need is another goal to turn the tie on its head and go through on away goals. That would be an absolute disaster for United supporters.
For a bit of comparison, United are listed at 1/25 to win the match but 3/10 to progress to the next stage. Bayern Munich are a massive 28/1 to win this match, but a very slim 12/5 to progress to the next stage. That’s less than 3/1.
The next goal is unbelievably crucial and William Hill have just shortened Bayern Munich’s odds to score it and they now trade at 7/4. United really need the next goal and they are odds-on to score it with a 5/6 price tag. No more goals in the match is a very plausible 7/2.
United are listed at 6/5 to win the second half with Bayern available at 13/5. A draw pays out at 6/4. Judging by the handicap betting, it looks like the bookies think two more goals are definitely possible. Under 5.5 goals pays out at 19/20 while over pays 4/5.
I find that Bayern Munich’s approach to the match has been fairly cynical. Franck Ribery has been anonymous so far and we all know that he can turn on the style at any point. Evra and Raphael have been outstanding and have stifled the wingers appropriately. I do think that we will likely see lots of diving from the Germans in a desperate attempt to win a penalty- which I’m sure the referee would be happy to give them, judging by some of the diving and embellishments that he seems to find no fault with. Van Bommel would normally be in real danger of a red card here, but I don’t think he has to worry about the ref making any controversial calls against Bayern Munich.
If United were still 3-0 up, then I would say that Rooney would likely come off. I think that Fergie needs to take Carrick off immediately and get a second striker in there. United won’t be able to defend this comfortably for 45 minutes with the type of quality that Bayern have and a referee that seems to buy into their gamesmanship wholeheartedly. The Red Devils need another goal and if it comes off the foot of Wayne Rooney- this is going to be a legendary match.
