MANCHESTER UNITED VS BAYERN MUNICH AUDI CUP BETTING TIPS
Ten years on, we have a fantastic rematch of that incredible 93 minutes at the Nou Camp when Manchester United scored twice in injury time, broke German hearts and shocked the world. Top UK bookmaker William Hill has listed Bayern as the slight favourites to secure the prestigious (lol) Audi Cup at a price of 11/8. United are just a step behind at 6/4 while the draw pays out at 23/10. Keep in mind that's the 90 minute market and I could certainly see this one going to extra time or even penalties. United played well against Boca Juniors, but that was considered the plum draw. Munich are a quality side and I think there isn't a huge amount between the two teams as both are still trying to find their footing, but we saw some of United's charges stepping up yesterday to get the job done. Interestingly enough, to me at least, was just how Ronaldo-like both of those goals really were. Anderson's freekick strike, finally opening his account for United, was a real statement of intent- fired in from Ronaldo-territory and finished with aplomb. It was a textbook floating freekick. Luis Antonio Valencia's strike, however, was pure CR7. Taking the ball from Rooney and then dribbling between two defenders, he maintained control and fired in a quality, dipping shot that had so much pace on it, it just squirted under the Boca keeper, whose name I can't be bothered to remember. The preferred correct score seems to be either 1-0 Bayern or a 1-1 draw. United to win 1-0 pays out at 6/1 and United 2-1 pays 8/1. I also think this one could turn into a bit of a goalfest with 3-2 paying out at 25/1 for each team. United to win both halves is 7/2 while Bayern Munich to win both halves is 16/5. Mario Gomez is the favoured first goalscorer for Munich with an 11/2 price first and last and a 6/4 anytime price. Thomas Muller is 7/4 anytime and 6/1 first and last. Mark Van Bommel is a solid bet at 7/1 anytime while Bastian Schweinsteiger is always danger and his 10/3 anytime price holds up against the competition. He is 9/1 to open or close the scoring. I like his pace and I think he's a big threat. Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen share the favourite scorers position for United with both strikers at 7/4 anytime and 6/1 first and last. Dimitar Berbatov is 2/1 anytime and 7/1 first and last- the exact same price as Federico Macheda- what does that tell you? Luis Antonio Valencia is 7/2 anytime and 10/1 first or last. Keep your eye on Paul Scholes at 11/2 anytime and Anderson at 7/1. I think this one would favour Bayern on the surface, but I always fancy United in a cup final- for better or worse. 3-2 to Manchester United at 25/1.
