There is simply no point in being too overly analytical when assessing the best betting opportunities in Wednesday's evenings clash between newly crowned Premiership champions Manchester United and the side that deposed, Chelsea, given that it's an inconsequential fixture. Sir Alex has made it clear that he'll be resting key players, with the likes of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs certain to sit this one out. Mourinho will not risk bringing Drogba or Robben back in this meaningless game, and young strikers Scott Sinclair and Ben Sahar may both get an airing against the champions. With the benefit of home advantage, Chelsea are favourites at a top-priced 6/5, ahead of United, who are generally 2/1 chances with the draw available at 9/4. I have to say, I agree with the bookies' take on this game and, if either side does prevail, I'm confident it'll be Chelsea. To lose at home against the team that dethroned them would add insult to injury. It's not wise to get too heavily involved in encounters of this nature, but I'm pretty sweet on backing Chelsea to keep a clean sheet at 6/4 with Betfred.
