MANCHESTER UNITED VS CHELSEA COMMUNITY SHIELD PREDICTIONS
We're just edging closer by the day to the 2010/11 English Premier League season and the Community Shield (what we used to call the Charity Shield) is finally upon us. Manchester United will be looking to prove a point today and I get the feeling that Sir Alex Ferguson will have a gameplan set to go for this one.
The odds have fluctuated a bit in the early hours and we're now facing a 13/8 price for Chelsea to win the match within 90 minutes while Manchester United can be backed at a 9/5 price tag. The draw is trading at 21/10 and that's not a bad bet for the neutrals.
In fact, you'll notice that the lowest-priced correct score selection is a 1-1 draw, which William Hill has priced at 11/2. A 1-0 victory for Chelsea is priced at 6/1 while a 1-0 win for United is available at 13/2. Chelsea to win 2-1 pays out at 9/1 and United 2-1 pays a solid 10/1. A 3-2 result for either side now pays out at 40/1.
The bookmakers don't favour a huge amount of goals in this one and we've seen Community Shield fixures be rather drab in the past. You can back under 2.5 goals at a slim 4/7 price while over 2.5 pays out at 13/10. Over 1.5 goals is available at 4/11 and under 1.5 goals pays out at 2/1.
Either side can be backed at 9/2 to win the match on penalties.
The odds on a penalty to be awarded are 10/3- no penalties is trading at 1/5. That penalty is 15/4 to be awarded and scored and it's a solid 12/1 to be awarded and missed.
My outside selection on this match is in the Wincast market at William Hill and if you see Javier Hernandez, aka Chicharito, in the starting lineup you should back Hernandez to score anytime and Manchester United to win on a double at 11/1.
