MANCHESTER UNITED VS FULHAM PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS
Manchester United have a few ghosts to exorcise this week after they were well and truly trounced in the reverse of this fixture at Craven Cottage. It is extremely rare that an Alex Ferguson side suffers such an essentially humiliating defeat but when they do they tend to avenge things at the next possible opportunity.
That doesn’t bode well for Fulham who come to Old Trafford after suffering a humbling defeat at the hands of Juventus in Turin on Thursday. The last time Fulham followed a Thursday night Europa League tie with a Sunday Premier League game they were 50% culpable for producing one of the worst games of the season. A 0-0 draw at the Stadium of Light was the result of Roy Hodgson setting up his side so that they were resolute in defence but also never looked like scoring.
That was a tactic which I suspect was largely down to the fact that their small squad is starting to feel the effects of an incredibly long season and they knew that their best plan of attack was to try and secure a point. However, they succeeded against Sunderland because the Black Cats did not know how to break down a stubborn defence – Manchester United do. I anticipate Fulham will once again hold tight early on and that is why I expect this game to be a good one for in-play traders. The best line of attack would be to back Under 2.5 goals at 2.3 (11/8) or 0-0 at 21.0 at Betfair with a view to trading out if the game is still goalless after 30 minutes.
United will inevitably break the deadlock at some point and it would be a brave (or stupid) man to bet against Wayne Rooney being the player to do so. He is as short as 11/4 with Bet365 to notch the first goal and a staggering 4/7 to get on the score sheet at anytime in the game.
Ferguson’s men are 1.25 (1/4) on Betfair to take all three points and I can’t suggest any reason why you should lay that price unless you are willing to trade in-play. Fulham’s stubbornness may cause some early problems, but eventually Manchester United will run out as the clear victors.
