Manchester United vs Sheffield Betting Tips

For a moment when Watford equalised in their FA Cup semi-final tie with Manchester United on Sunday, one entertained the fleeting thought that, as it had in their latest Premiership match, the Red Devils' hectic schedule may have caught up with them. This, however, turned out to be pretty wide of the mark. Indeed, Sir Alex Ferguson's men took just two minutes to come up with the ultimate riposte - another goal - and after the interval they added two more, just for good measure. That 11 goals in their last two games having slammed Roma in that spellbinding Champions League quarter-final second leg last week. The imminent question now is can Sheffield United, who are fighting an altogether different battle at present - that of survival rather than supremacy - get anything from their fixture against the rampant Mancunians at the Theatre Of Dreams on Tuesday evening? In a word, nope! The Blades are a place above the drop zone, two points to the good and with a game in hand of the next club in the pecking order, Charlton. Neil Warnock's men may well survive regardless of the outcome if they are on song for their final four games, against Charlton, Watford, Aston Villa and Wigan. Sheff Utd are more than capable of getting something from each of these games, but what a boost it would be to get a precious point at Old Trafford. Sadly for the visitors, though, this match is probably even more important to United, who have seen their buffer over Chelsea whittled down to just three points in recent weeks. United's five fixtures following this one includes a trip to Stamford Bridge, therefore home games such as this really need to be worth three points to the champions elect. A major positive for Sir Alex and the club has been the form which Alan Smith has returned from injury in - the 26-year-old has been looking razor sharp, a timely boost what with Louis Saha's ongoing sick note. Given the electrifying pace with which United have been starting their matches, I can envisage a good few goals in the first half, as they are bound to fancy their chances of putting this one to bed quickly. As such, at 9/4 with ladbrokes I am inclined to opt for first half in the half with most goals betting. The Blades, for all that they are dogged, will be blown away by a team very much with wind in their sails. Verdict - 2pts first half in the half with most goals betting @ 9/4 (Ladbrokes)
