MANCHESTER UNITED VS WOLVES CARLING CUP BETTING TIPS
Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side produced one of the most exciting matches in recent memory when they battled cross-town rivals Manchester City to a 4-3 classic. You'll be forgiven for expecting a bit less as United take on Wolves at Old Trafford. Mick McCarthy's side boast plenty of quality, and every proper Wolves fan will remember them getting it done over Man U back when they were in the Premiership earlier in the decade. Will they be able to repeat their heroics from that day? Likely not. This is a United side that hasn't really played that well this season, but have certainly managed to grind out the results, barring Burnley. United go into the match as the 2/7 favourites to pull off the victory with Wolves at a lengthy 10/1 for a win. The draw pays out at a 4/1 price. The over/under has been set at 2.5 goals and I actually think United will be satisfied to win this 2-0, a margin they are more than capable of, and the bookies seem to agree with me as the 2-0 correct score bet is listed at the shortest odds available- a mere 5/1. 3-1 to Man U pays out at just 10/1 while a 3-2 margin garners a 25/1 price. 3-0 only pays out at 7/1 so clearly the bookies expect United to win by a solid margin. United are 8/11 to win both halves while draw/Man United is listed at 10/3. Wolves/Man United pays out at a massive 28/1, but I don't see them winning the first half. I'm expecting Darren Fletcher to get another start and I feel as though Giggs may begin the match on the bench. He produced a real vintage performance, but I think this is a match-up for the Parks and the Valencias. We could also see Zoran Tosic deployed on the wing. Nani's style of play should suit this match as well. Dimitar Berbatov needs confidence and I think he might get a start to give Rooney a break and get a bit of form in front of goal against a weaker team. Former United player Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is favoured to score for Wolves at 10/1 each-way. Wayne Rooney is listed at 3/1 while Berbatov and Michael Owen (who may also get a start here) are both available at 10/3. Nani is at 7/1 while Zoran Tosic can be backed at 8/1. I'm confident we'll see a solid performance from Man U, but Wolves will definitely be up for this one. 2-0 or 3-1 are my calls.
