MANNY PACQUIAO VS JOSHUA CLOTTEY ODDS AND BETTING TIPS
Manny Pacquiao's camp have announced that his next opponent won't be Floyd Mayweather, but Ghanian pugilist Joshua Clottey on March 13 at Cowboys Stadium. You'll remember him as the guy who Miguel Cotto beat, via a controversial decision, and his WBO Welterweight is currently in a stack in Pacquiao's closet somewhere. William Hill has released odds on the fight already and I'm quite confident that this is going to be a very profitable fight.
In terms of the outright betting, Pacquiao is listed as a heavy 1/4 favourite with Clottey available at an 11/4 price. The draw pays out at 25/1, but come on, we all know that isn't going to happen. A few other sites have outright odds currently available but none have the round betting and method of victory betting that William Hill does at the moment.
The lowest-priced selection in the method of victory market is Manny Pacquiao to win by decision or split decision and you'll find it available at a 10/11 price. Clottey has only lost three times in his career and none of them have been by KO. Should Manny Pacquiao be able to knock out Clottey, it's a solid 6/4 payout. I really like that bet.
Clottey is favoured to win by KO, TKO or DQ and he's listed at 11/2 to do so. His decision victory price is 8/1. It's going to be interesting to see Manny face off against somebody with some serious hitting power and seeing the bookies favouring an opponent to win by KO or TKO means that we're in for a fight that should be full of action.
This brings us to the round betting, Pacquiao's shortest prices are his 16/1 listing in rounds 7-10. He is 20/1 in rounds 3-6 and round 11 while round 12 and round 2 can be backed at 25/1. A Pacquiao victory in round 1 pays a lengthy 33/1.
Joshua Clottey trades at 50/1 to win in rounds 1-4 and he drops to 40/1 to win in rounds 5-12.
I think this is a tougher opponent than they had to pick and you can't really argue with his record. He did lose to Miguel Cotto, and that's somebody who Pacquiao walked all over. I think Clottey has a tendency to get in there and use his head a bit too much and that's seen him disqualified in the past. I wonder if Manny really does have one eye on the Mayweather fight and wants to send a message? Either way, I'm all over Manny to win by KO or TKO, likely in the 9th or 10th rounds.
