MARK HUGHES NOW FAVOURITE FOR NEXT FULHAM MANAGER
I seriously hope you’ve been paying attention to all the coverage we’ve been giving this because I distinctly recall a certain website pointing to Mark Hughes as the main man for Fulham fans. The Sven Goran Eriksson thing just isn’t going to work out- he simply doesn’t have credibility in England any more and I would predict a fan revolt after two consecutive losses.
The market has really just developed into Hughes as the favourite over the past few hours. Currently, you can lock in a price of 4.4 on Mark Hughes and that’s a very sharp drop from his 17.5 price last week and the massive 40.0 price tag when it looked like Martin Jol was set for the gig.
Once Jol was removed from the picture, Eriksson’s price plummeted back down to nearly 2.5 but he has ticked back up to around 5.0.
Jurgen Klinsmann is a big one here and has just come back into the picture. I think he’s the clear outside bet here if you are looking to wager against Hughes and he’s listed at a 10.5 price. Dave Jones looks to be out of the running now with a 15.5 listing telling no lies.
Jones had hung around for the better part of three weeks at a sub 10.0 price and looked second favourite all along. Word on the street was that the Fulham players were mostly backing the Cardiff manager but I just don’t think Al-Fayed thinks he’s a big enough name at this point.
Alan Curbishley is trading at 19.0 but I don’t see that one panning out. American Bob Bradley’s odds to be Fulham Manager have drifted back up to 32.0. I would have really liked to have seen the American have a go here, but it just doesn’t look in the cards. In all honesty, Bradley doesn’t have the experience at club level so I can understand their reluctance to approach him.
Sparky has always looked like the better candidate to me and it appears as though the odds are now lining up.
