MARTIN O’NEILL’S PRICE PLUMMETS AS NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER BETTING ODDS HEAT UP

It’s been a very fast and furious morning in the Betfair market for next Liverpool manager now that Rafa Benitez is confirmed to be on his way out. Earlier today, Aston Villa manager and all-around good guy Martin O’Neill was priced around 6.0. As it currently stands, O’Neill trades around 3.8 having been seen closer to 3.0 just moments ago.

The volume is starting to tick up and O’Neill’s price continues to trend downwards as Liverpool fans seem to think he is the one for the job.
Kenny Dalglish has been the romantic option for many, but it appears as though his price will continue to lengthen and he’s available at around 7.0. I believe that price will increase as O’Neill continues to drop in price.
Fulham’s Roy Hodgson is trading at 6.4 and these three are really the only contenders seeing anything resembling solid volume. There are a few thousand dollars matched already, but the amount of money in the market is actually quite staggering.
I have a feeling that Liverpool’s management will be looking for more of a steady-Eddie type than some sort of longshot gamble. That’s why you can rule out about 98% of the names in this betting market.
Martin O’Neill, Kenny Dalglish, Roy Hodgson and Guus Hiddink are really the only plausible selections in my book and Hiddink’s price is lengthening considerably. He is now listed at a 14.5 price.
Expect Martin O’Neill’s price to drop even further once he makes a statement. I would be expecting a news release from Aston Villa sometime today or tomorrow. The big gamble right now is- what’s that news release going to say?
