MARTIN O'NEILL COULD BE NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER DESPITE SLIM ODDS FOR IRISH JOB

Martin O'Neill's sudden departure from Aston Villa certainly caught most Premier League observers off-guard and there are a number of rumours circulating about where and when the former Celtic man will reappear on the scene.
BBC Sport's gossip column from Monday is linking to a story from the Daily Star that reports O'Neill's name being bandied about as the choice of several consortiums bidding on the Anfield club. They view him as much more qualified to steer the club back to winning ways as new manager Roy Hodgson's stint at Liverpool is starting to go from underwhelming to full-blown crisis.
Odds on the next Liverpool manager haven't been released by any major bookmakers yet, but when they do you can count on us to report them. We do know for a fact that O'Neill remains the favourite to be named the next Republic of Ireland manager job. Popular UK bookmaker Victor Chandler is listing him as the 7/1 favourite to take over the reigns from Giovanni Trapattoni.
Paul Lambert is also in the frame for the next Republic of Ireland manager betting and you can back him at an 8/1 price. Former Fulham manager Jean Tigana is trading at 10/1 alongside Chris Hughton.
It should also be noted that Roy Keane's odds are listed at 10/1, as well.
You reckon that Martin O'Neill would opt for the Liverpool managers job over anything else and, if he's as eager to get back into the game as the bookmakers think he is, then you would do well to bet against him taking over for Ireland anytime soon.
Rest assured, if the situation at Liverpool continues to deteriorate, you'd assume that Roy Hodgson is sacked by Christmas if Liverpool are laguishing in mid-table.
O'Neill should also be discounted for the other gigs that he's up for. You can back O'Neill for next Wales manager at 16/1 while taking the Liverpool job definitely rules him out of ever being next Manchester United manager- where he's trading at a competitive 9/2.
Hold all bets on Martin O'Neill for management jobs as it looks like he could be the choice for Next Liverpool manager once Hodgson's position becomes untenable.
