MEG WHITMAN SET FOR DEFEAT IN CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR RACE: IRISH BOOKMAKER
The Democrats are looking set for a victory the California Gubernatorial race this fall, that is if the bookies from across the Atlantic have it right. Popular Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has recently released odds for a number of American political bets and the California Governors’ Race looks to be heading in the direction of Democrat Jerry Brown.
Jerry Brown’s odds to win the California Governor’s race is trading at an odds-on price of 8/13. That means a £100 wager on Brown would reward at £161.54, all-told.
Meg Whitman’s odds don’t look completely out of it, and you can still back her at a 6/5 price tag at the moment. A £100 wager would pay out at £220 if the former executive winds up securing a Republican victory.
The former Ebay CEO has plowed millions of dollars of her own money into her campaign and the situation is similar to Michael Bloomberg pounding his own vast wealth into his bid for mayor of New York.
Whitman has recently been dogged by allegations that she knowingly had an illegal immigrant working as a housekeeper (an illegal housekeeper in California?? Get right outta town!). This is a hot button for Republicans who are generally running an anti-immigration platform that is tough on illegals and especially those that hire them. Whitman looks to be sticking to her guns and her message on creating jobs for Californians.
The raging hypocrisy of the situation is likely coming as a god-send to the Brown campaign and you reckon that this might be the final straw in a race that increasingly looks to be getting away from Meg Whitman.
