Midweek Champions League games
No doubt the Champions League game of round two is at Anfield on Wednesday evening when Chelsea and Liverpool face each other. The two clubs know each other extremely well having met four times last term. Those Premiership and Champions League games were tight, tense affairs with just three goals in four games, and there is every reason to think it could be more of the same on Wednesday. Both clubs opened their European campaigns with three points. Rafa Benitez is likely to be the slightly happier manager given his victory came at Real Betis. Following the victory in Spain, the reigning champions would probably be content with a point. We have already seen Benitez set his side up to first and foremost not lose to Manchester United in the Premiership, and the same tactics can be expected to be employed against Chelsea. It makes little sense for either team to go all out for victory at this stage of the competition, and so a draw is the confident call. It is unlikely to be a thrilling spectacle, which is sure to likely fuel the boring football debate further. While it may not be pretty, a dull 0-0 would pay out at 6/1!Elsewhere in Europe this week, Inter Milan should be backed in some shape or form to see of Rangers. The Scottish outfit are having their worst season for many a year, and are already eleven points adrift in the SPL having lost to Hearts at the weekend. In stark contrast, Inter look a superb outfit this year with a wide array of attacking options. The match odds of 3/10 for the Italians is a little to short, so the advice is to tuck in the half-time/full-time result at 8/11.
