MILNER JOINS CITY AND BECKHAM TO BLACKBURN?

James Milner has finally ended the summer’s longest running transfer saga by completing his move to Manchester City. The England midfielder joins the Premier League’s big spenders as part of a deal reported to be worth around £26million, Stephen Ireland has moved to Aston Villa as part of the agreement.Neither player will be available to play in their new club’s Europa League tie tonight but are both expected to go straight into the squad for weekend games against Liverpool and Newcastle. Milner’s signing takes City’s summer spending to around the £150million mark and although he may not be the last new face to come in before the end of August, he could turn out to be the final big money recruit.However, there could still be a few more players leaving Eastlands with Shay Given thought to be assessing his options after Joe Hart was confirmed as Roberto Mancini’s preferred choice between the sticks. Arsenal and Fulham are thought to be interested in the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper although things are complicated by the fact that Fulham’s interest would depend upon Mark Schwarzer moving to The Gunners and it is unlikely City would let Given go to a rival club, ruling out Arsenal.Following last Saturday’s draw with Tottenham Man City can now be backed at odds 9/1 to win the Premier League with Betfred and 6/1 for Europa League glory.And sticking with football, prospective Blackburn Rovers buyer Ahsan Ali Syed is keen on bringing David Beckham to the club should he complete his proposed takeover of the Premier League club. The Indian businessman is believed to be planning to put £300million into the club and has promised to back manager Sam Allardyce in the transfer market.Syed has told the Daily Mail: "I was 26 when I started following the Premier League. I used to like Blackburn back then and also used to follow Manchester United's fortunes because of David Beckham. If my finances allow and his intentions are positive then I would love to take Beckham."
