MIROSLAV KLOSE VS DAVID VILLA SHOWDOWN SET FOR GERMANY VS SPAIN SEMI FINAL

Two of the top strikers in the business are set for a showdown tomorrow in South Africa as both teams are pursuing a date with the Dutch in the 2010 World Cup Final. It's going to be a hard-fought affair and many punters predict that we'll see plenty of goals in this fixture- understandable with both sides boasting so many matchwinners.

David Villa has really stamped his mark on this tournament and you'll find him trading as the favourite to win the golden boot at the 2010 World Cup. The new Barcelona signing is also likely a candidate for best goal of the tournament- and he still has potentially two more matches to go.
Miroslav Klose isn't really a flashy player and always puts in a more workmanlike performance than the high-flying David Villa. His goals haven't been of the utmost quality- but every strike counts in this tournament and he is only two goals away from beating out Ronaldo's all-time World Cup goalscoring record.
Popular UK bookmaker William Hill is offering up a goalscorer match bet between these two players. The betting is effectively on who will score the most goals with the draw listed at 4/5 and obviously the favoured outcome. Villa is priced at 15/8 to outscore Miroslav Klose while the German is available at a hefty 7/2 price. I think each player will likely get at least one goal in this one if its a relatively open fixture.
In regards to the standard goalscoring odds, Miroslav Klose's price to score is trading at 7/4 anytime and 6/1 first or last. He's 8/1 to score two or more and 40/1 to hit a hat-trick.
David Villa is the only player in the match listed at odds-on with a 4/5 anytime price. He's at 10/3 to score first or last and a slim 7/2 to grab two or more. He is also short-priced at 20/1 to hit a hat-trick of goals.
Other potential goalscorers of note include Lukas Podolski at 9/4 anytime and Mario Gomez at 10/3. Fernando Torres is listed at a 6/4 price and he's due to score anytime now. Fernando Llorente is at 7/4 while Pedro is trading at 11/4.
I think that Klose vs Villa is the pivotal battle in this one and I'm a bit more tempted to back Germany's defence to outperform as they have faced more talented teams and acquitted themselves better defensively than the Spanish. Spain have had a pretty slack route to the final when compared with some other sides and their luck may just catch up to them on Wednesday.
