NEXT ASTON VILLA MANAGER ODDS INDICATE KEVIN MACDONALD LIKELY TO STAY ON
The volume has picked up today in the Next Aston Villa Manager market at Betfair and it is looking increasingly likely that current interim manager Kevin MacDonald is fancied to stay on. He is enjoying a large percentage of betting activity and has been bet down to around 2.66-2.7 at the time of this writing. Any price above 3.0 has been getting snapped up quickly.
That is certainly continuing a downward trend that MacDonald has been experiencing since Bob Bradley was removed from the picture. The American manager has signed another contract extension, but looked to be out of the running anyway as the Villa brass stated that a manager with Premier League experience was necessary.
Sven Goran Eriksson remains in the hunt, according to the odds, and you can back the former England manager at a 4.7 price tag and we're not seeing a huge amount of volume on the Swede- it is concentrated primarily on MacDonald.
Gerard Houllier is starting to emerge as a more plausible contender and, currently, he is the only other selection trading at a single digit price with a 9.4 bet current available on the former Liverpool manager.
David Moyes to Aston Villa looks to have more or less fallen apart at the seams with the Everton boss trading at a lengthy 21.0 after being bet down to around 6.0 on Monday. Alan Curbishley is shorter-priced that Moyes at this point and you can back the former Charlton manager at a 16.0 listing.
Ronald Koeman is listed at 19.0 while Mark Hughes can be backed at 27.0. Gareth Southgate is trading at 38.0 and Jurgen Klinsmann is priced out at 44.0. Gianfranco Zola's odds to take over at Villa are trading at around 46.0 and that's a shade better than Steve MCClaren at 70.0 and Sam Allardyce at 75.0.
