NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER BETTING ODDS SHOW KENNY DALGLISH AS THE SOLID FAVOURITE

With Rafa Benitez’s departure from Liverpool confirmed- the following step is identifying who will take over as next Liverpool manager. Currently, Kenny Dalglish has leapt to the front of the pack and is identified as the favourite with Paddy Power listing him at a 9/4 price to take over at the Merseyside club.

Martin O’Neill had been a considerable favourite for quite some time and he has been dropped back to a 5/2 price to leave Aston Villa and head north. Fulham’s Roy Hodgson is also a strong contender and he’s available at a 4/1 price tag- quality odds on an English signing that would likely go over well with the home fans and their solid supporter base in the Nordic countries.
Guus Hiddink had been bandied about as a likely replacement but his price has been cut from previous odds and he now trades around 10/1. I have a feeling that he’s the one that most Liverpool fans would like to take over, quality-wise, but with a club facing some financial issues- I think Hiddink’s salary demands may exceed what the club can afford.
Alex McLeish is trading at 16/1 alongside Manuel Pellegrini. Mark Hughes can be backed at an 18/1 price while Frank Rijkaard is at 22/1- the same price as Slaven Bilic.
Robbie Fowler to take over as next Liverpool manager trades at 500/1. Marco Van Basten is interestingly-priced at 50/1 while Gerard Houllier is listed at 66/1 to make a dramatic return to Liverpool.
Personally, I think that Rafa being essentially forced out will likely mean that a firesale could be underway sooner rather than later. There is a very good chance now that Fernando Torres will be leaving Liverpool as well as Steven Gerrard. It is going to be interesting to see how this pans out, but the ability to raise a quick £100,000,000 may be too tempting for the financially-strapped ownership.
