NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER ODDS DROP SHARPLY FOR ROY HODGSON AND KENNY DALGLISH

We have perhaps seen the pivotal moment in the betting market for the Next Liverpool Manager over at Betfair. With rumours being released yesterday and today that Roy Hodgson is set to be offered the Liverpool post, his listing dropped to nearly even money on Betfair. The Europa League runner-up manager is now trading at a slim 2.04 price- nearly half of what he was at over the weekend.

The other especially interesting tidbit is that Kenny Dalglish really is going to try to pull a Dick Cheney and nominate himself after leading the search committee. There is definitely an element of the Liverpool fanbase who want Dalglish in the position but the question you have to ask yourself is whether it will play well with investors or potential buyers. I think that’s what this is really about- making Liverpool a more saleable asset for the owners.
You’ll find Kenny Dalglish’s odds to become next Liverpool manager at a 4.0 price- this is a substantial drop from where he was at even yesterday.
Needless to say, Martin O’Neill looks unlikely to take the post and he has seen his price climb dramatically to nearly 10.0- this is more than triple what it was listed at when the betting markets first opened.
Sven Goran Eriksson has been trending downwards to around 11.0 but is now back up to 15.5. I think the Liverpool fan base hate the owners enough as it is without them appointing a manager who hasn’t really done anything for a few years.
Right now, it looks to be all about Hodgson vs Dalglish with both men being solid candidates for the next Liverpool manager. Personally, I think Hodgson has this one in the bag and I think Fulham are already resigned to losing him. Dalglish could be made part of the coaching staff, but I wonder what the odds are on him taking the soon-to-be-vacant Fulham post?
