NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER ODDS SHOW HODGSON STILL FAVOURED OVER DALGLISH AND PELLEGRINI
It's been a really interesting 24 hours in the Next Liverpool manager betting market. Roy Hodgson remains the solid favourite despite his price rising nearly a point when the news hit the wires that Manuel Pellegrini has become a much more serious contender over the past little while.
Naturally, this has led to some folks believing that Hodgson has either turned the job down or that the Liverpool brass simply aren't interested in him. This is sort of the feeling I'm getting from a lot of Kop faithful who simply find Woy a bit underwhelming despite his Europa League near-heroics this year.
I think that Liverpool fans aren't looking for somebody who can pull off plucky wins against established teams- they want a guy who's going to make them Premier League contenders again. Not go on an impressive run of games once in a while.
Hodgsons price is listed at around 2.42 with Betfair right now and he was listed as high as a 3.1 price yesterday evening. As Pellegrini was bet down yesterday, Hodgsons price became nearly as active.
Kenny Dalglish is available at a 4.1 price tag and he's up from his price of 3.5 yesterday. I think that most die-hard Liverpool fans have put themselves firmly in the Dalglish camp although others are open to some big names like a Hiddink or a Rijkaard.
The big story though is Manuel Pellegrini who has emerged as a very strong contender in the past 36 hours. He was listed as high as 90/1 with some bookmakers and is now available on Betfair for a 7.0 price. He had dropped to as low as 6.0 yesterday afternoon having been at 9.0 earlier in the day.
I think that we're still a ways off this one, but if you're looking to back the contender with the momentum-back Manuel Pellegrini. It should also be noted that Jurgen Klinsmann is also trending downwards and is now trading at around 12.0.
