Next Newcastle Manager Betting Tips PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on January 19, 2015 18:54 GMTThings are definitely getting interesting over at St James Park as manager-less Newcastle continue to drift following the departure of Alan Pardew to his old club Crystal Palace. The betting markets have been fairly tumultuous so far as there is no real clear favourite to the manager’s position at Newcastle for the moment. A few favourites have popped up and then declared that they weren’t interested in the job and many expect an announcement by the end of the month or so.

Owner Mike Ashley is not a particularly popular figure at Newcastle - a club with an extremely devoted fan base that is very much ensconced in the local community itself. Many fans would likely want an entirely new approach to the club including a new owner and (definitely) a new manager.
The tough part for Newcastle fans is the fact that they had really been going from strength to strength under the tutelage of Alan Pardew - a man who was amongst the favourites for the sack last season and managed to turn things around considerably in just a few months. They recently lost 2-1 to Southampton and will face off in a must-win fixture against Hull if they want to stop their plunge down the table.
As it currently stands, Remi Garde is the betting favourite to be named as the next Newcastle manager with a 6/4 price being dangled out there by most major bookmakers at the moment. Steve McLaren is also trading at a fairly interesting price and his dramatic return to English football would probably be pretty well timed if he was to make the move. Punters will find the former England manager at a competitive price of about 3/1.
Michael Laudrup would be a very interesting appointment for the position and he’s trading at 4/1 right now and could be clipped if he makes any specific noise about taking on the job. John Carver is just behind him at a 9/2 listing while former Spurs great Tim Sherwood - who was once considered the favourite for the Newcastle vacancy - is a very lengthy 12/1.
