It’s worth remembering that there is still a lot of the season left to pan out but we’ve already seen Sunderland lose Dick Advocaat after he reluctantly came back to the job and really seemed out of ideas and not really willing to fight for this position - it’s clear the Dutchman wasn’t so much out of his depth but just couldn’t be bothered to solve problems that were being exacerbated by other people.

Brendan Rodgers has been the most high-profile departure in an occurrence that will probably surprise very few since it’s looked to be coming for quite some time. Liverpool genuinely needed to get off to a roaring start but with another summer of inconsistent signings and an awful lot of noise and very little action from their manager, you had to assume that his days were genuinely numbered.

Chelsea have been the really big question mark over the entirety of the season during this sputtering start that has been mired in both off-the-pitch controversy and mediocre displays at Stamford Bridge and away fixtures. It’s easy to get carried away and assume that Roman Abramovic will he actively seeking a replacement for Jose Mourinho so quickly in the season?

You have to assume that Jose will be given a good amount of time to steady the ship and it looks like a quick exit from the Champions League would probably be the only thing that might make the Russian owner think twice and pull the trigger on eliminating Mourinho just a few months after he secured the title for Chelsea without really even breaking a sweat.
